5 Myths about Waterpik Water Flossers

Share

1. Waterpik Water Flosser replaces regular flossing

It’s a popular myth and people really think that water flosser is a substitute to a regular dental flossing. And it’s just not true. Water flossing does make regular flossing easier and less needed but you still have to flossing your teeth. Water flossing is just faster and more enjoyable and also takes less time especially when you own braces. I own braces and it’s a real time saver for me and a lot of people.

2. Waterpik Water Flosser is easy to use

You shouldn’t underestimate just how much skill it takes to avoid mess when water flossing. First times you water floss just expect that there will be water all around and be prepared for it. Use the lowest pressure setting you have on your water flosser and try to get it to know closer. Once you become friends with your water flosser you can gradually increase the pressure setting and that’s where you start getting the most benefits out of water flosser.

Dealing with water pressure is hard and requires some practice and time put in, but you can’t do anything with it. You just have to take it and that’s it. Once you become a water flossing master you can easily charge money and teach others. Just kidding 🙂

3. Waterpik Water Flosser replaces toothbrushing

Some people think that toothbrushing is not needed anymore if you have a water flosser. And I wanted it to be true but unfortunately you still have to brush your teeth. Brushing alone is just not enough. If you can imagine water flosser as a stealth warrior that kills hidden enemies, then toothbrush is the shotgun that cleans the main enemies force on the surface.

Even though water flossers don’t replace regular brushing, the feeling of freshness and cleanliness after water flossing is just amazing and I can’t get it from any other oral care device.

4. Battery-based water flossers clean as good as network-based ones

Well, battery-based water flossers do provide a good cleaning job, but they are just physically are not capable of providing the same water pressure as their “big brothers” do. For example one of my best cordless models Waterpik Freedom provides 25% less water pressure and 40% less flow rate per minute when compared to a “regular” countertop model (Waterpik WP-100 Ultra.)

But don’t forget that travel water flossers are unbeatable in what they are made for – travel. You can’t carry with you a huge water flosser that would take up all the space in the luggage and even more – it’s incompatible with international network standards without additional network adapters.

5. But I have tartar/crowns/bridges and this thing will not work for me

This “thing” is especially useful for those cases. Water flossers are known to do a great job at removing tartar. Waterpik even has a specific Tip for those who got crowns/bridges and furcations and even periodontal pockets and it’s called Pik Pocket Tip. See my Ultimate Guide to Waterpik for more information about Tips.
