If you still want to read more, then we have some explanation of the most popular leakage problems.

Introduction to the problem

Why does my Waterpik leak? The problem is common among Waterpik users. Don’t worry, it can be easily fixed. Read more how.

When I first bought my Waterpik, I made a lot of mistakes. The very first frustration was when it made a lot of mess in my bathroom. The water was everywhere.

Another one problem was that my Waterpik leaked. It happened suddenly. One morning I just came in my bathroom and saw that my counter space was full of water and the floor was also wet. The first thought was: “Why does my Waterpik leak?”

Since that time I spent a lot of time using my own Waterpik and troubleshooting it and also helping other users. And in this article, I want to explain shortly what are the possible causes of the leakage in your Waterpik water flosser, why they happen and how to fix them.

Main reasons why your Waterpik may leak and how to fix them:

  • Water left in the water reservoir – make sure you empty the water tank after you finish water flossing.
  • Handle left in the wrong position – make sure you put the handle into the holder
  • Hose leaks water – hit Waterpik customer support at waterpik.com and ask for a free replacement.
  • How to fix a broken Waterpik hose

Why does a Waterpik leak

The reason of the leakage that I see the most frequently is that users leave water in the water reservoir. In this case, water leaks through the bottom of the water tank. Most of the Waterpik models do have a valve in the bottom of the water reservoir, but it is supposed to hold the water only for a short period(while you are water flossing.) And when you leave some water in the water reservoir for the whole night night, the valve can’t hold the water and this causes water tank leakage. So to fix the leaking water tank please make sure you empty the water reservoir and no liquid is left in it.

In case you see that your water tank is leaking immediately once you fill it with the water then the reason may be the bad water valve. In this case, I recommend hitting official customer support at waterpik.com.

Another reason of leaking may be the handle popped out of the handle holder. In this case, the handle is leaking the water that is left in the cord(hose). The very first advise I can give here is to put the handle in the right position in the holder so the tip is directed upwards.

If there are some issues or it’s hard to put the handle in the right position(for some reason) I recommend sucking the water that is left in the hose with your mouth so there is no water left in the hose. But generally I recommend putting the hose in the holder and you will not have any issues with it.

There last possible cause of the leakage in your Waterpik may be the bad hose. In this case, I recommend hitting customer support on waterpik.com or on Twitter. They will send you the replacement hose for your Waterpik. Their customer support usually answers in 1-2 days(when I contacted them they replied pretty quickly.)

Conclusion

That’s it. I presented you with solutions for all the possible issues so you should be able to fix the leakage.

In most cases the leakage is caused by incorrect use and it can be fixed by a simple correction in usage.
In other, rather rare, occasions the cause may be in a defect in Waterpik details, and you can hit Waterpik customer support, and they will send you a replacement for the wrong detail.
