Purge your Waterpik
Dentists recommend that you purge your Waterpik for at least 10 seconds before and after using it.
How to purge Waterpik
Here are the basic steps how to purge your Waterpik:
- Disconnect the reservoir. When you are done using your Waterpik, disconnect the water reservoir from the base.
- Turn on the device and purge the system.. By doing so, it will pump out the excess water, that you just have used, letting the air from through the tubing and drying the inside of the unit.
- Turn off the device. When you are done purging, you can turn off the Waterpik.
- Wipe down the excess water from the base with a napkin. It will ensure that the base of the unit remains dry and clean.
- Set the reservoir back on the base in a rotated position. Put the reservoir in the rotated position, letting the connector of the reservoir to the unit be exposed. So that the air will continue flowing through the inside of your Waterpik, drying your device and killing any microorganisms or anaerobic bacteria, that may grow inside the Waterpik.
Disinfect your Waterpik
Disinfect your Waterpik every month using a couple drops of chlorine in a full reservoir of pure water. Running the whole reservoir of this cleaning solution will clean the inside of your Waterpik and ensure that no bacteria or microorganisms is collecting inside.
After you’ve done that, make sure you rinse your Waterpik with a full reservoir of pure water. It will rinse the whole system and flush out all the excess of the chlorine solution that is left inside. Once you are done disinfecting your unit, we recommend setting the reservoir in a rotated position.
Conclusion
This maintenance guide will ensure that you always use your Waterpik in its optimal performance and that you always have a fresh and clean solution every time you use your Waterpik.
Hopefully, this advice from dentists will help you to maintain your Waterpik to your enjoyment and reach that optimal oral health. And to always have a healthy smile.
