There are different water flossers on the market. They all have pros and cons, but what is the best water flosser on the market? I had the same question when I started researching water flossers more thoroughly. At this time I already had my Waterpik Complete Care, and I was absolutely happy with it. But I wanted to know which Water Flosser is the best.
What are the features of the best water flosser on the market:
- Cleaning effectiveness
- Ease of use
- Travel compatibility
- Substitution to flossing
When I was looking for the best water flosser on the market, I wanted it to clean very well. And I mean really well. It has to clean your teeth, gums and in between the teeth. It also has to clean braces, remove plaque, bacteria, fight tartar and other dental diseases. I want to be 100% sure that my water flosser takes care of my oral health. So in short, It has to have the best cleaning effectiveness on the market.
I was looking for a Water Flosser that wouldn’t require too many steps for preparation. The usage has to be intuitive and simple. I don’t have to read a huge user manual to start using it, and it should be simple enough so my kids could use it too. So ease of use I think is an important feature as well.
The best water flosser should be small and portable. It should not require carrying around cords. Ideally, I want it to look like a toothbrush. And I don’t want it to work from AA batteries for two reasons:
- AA batteries cannot provide enough power
- AA batteries are expensive, and it means recurring expenses
So the best water flosser should have a rechargeable battery, but I still want the ability to use it in a shower in a hotel room for convenience.
Substitution to flossing. If I buy a Water Flosser, I want it to eliminate flossing. Entirely. Flossing is good for oral health, and I get it, but I want my Water Flosser to take care of my teeth entirely, so I don’t have to floss anymore. I’m not sure if it’s possible, but it would be just awesome.
Searching for the best water flosser on the market
With these features in mind, I went to the market and started looking what was available. At this time I already had my Waterpik Complete Care. I blindly bought it in the past because of my braces, that were hard to clean. And it’s not that Complete Care was bad, no. I absolutely loved it(and I still use it.) It was powerful enough with 10 pressure settings. It was also easy to use. All I had to do was fill the water reservoir and start water flossing.
But my Waterpik was not portable at all. It was big and bulky, and while it was fine when it stayed on my counter space it was impossible to take it on travel. It was only compatible with North America Voltage.
My Waterpik also didn’t replace flossing. It cleaned my teeth well, but I still had to floss every once in a while. And I wanted something better that could replace flossing entirely.
My version of the best water flosser on the market
I did a lot of research and learned a lot of different Water Flosser brands. At the end, I stopped my eye on >JetPik. Please note that I’m not affiliated with JetPik, and they don’t pay me anything.
Even though JetPik doesn’t conform to all my requirements, it is still the best water flosser out there that I could find.
Cleaning effectiveness. JetPik cleans really well and leaves me with fresh breath. To compare JetPik with Waterpik, I feel like JetPik polishes my teeth and braces better. Though Waterpik also did the job well.
Ease of use. When compared to Waterpik, JetPik is not as easy to use, but still is good enough. When using it at home, I have to attach the tube from the cup to the handle and fill the cup with water.
When it really shines though, is in travel. JetPik is a very compact water flosser and has no cords. It is waterproof, so I use it in the shower in a hotel room. Then I remove the tube and insert the toothbrush head and use it as a regular toothbrush which is awesome.
JetPik works from a rechargeable battery that is charged from the inductive charger. So it is exactly what I wanted, cheaper and more powerful than using AA batteries(like in Waterpik Cordless models, for example.) So overall JetPik is more convenient to use in travel which is a big plus.
Substitution to flossing. One difference between Waterpik and JetPik is that JetPik pulsates dental floss along with water. This is a unique feature that I didn’t see in any other water flosser on the market.
It means that the dental floss is thrown out of the nozzle. It cleans in between my teeth even better than a regular floss string. And it means that I don’t have to floss anymore. And since I have braces it also means less time for flossing that I really appreciate.
I still have to replace dental floss cartridges in JetPik every 2-3 weeks, though. But they cost me $1 per one capsule so it’s not a big deal for me and I think the investment is absolutely worth it.
Conclusion
I used four criteria to find the best water flosser on the market. JetPik satisfied me, and I think this water flosser has the most value on the market.
